There are things I like and do not like about this piece, I'll start with the good stuff first! It's a very floaty and carefree kinda song, the instruments play so freely of each other and yet they still fit together to make something coherent, it's quite calming and enjoyable to listen to. This is a good song to get lost in and imagine yourself gliding through the clouds. Did I mention flying frogs will be accompaning you on this cloudly adventure? I only say this because the second time the chorus comes around you use a bass that sounds like a frog croaking! I'm not sure whether I like the idea of flying with frogs, they cramp my style :P Another thing that I wasn't so fond of was the slight dissonance through out the song, I think it was the pad you used which just constantly sounded "off" to me. But beside those things it was a pretty diverse and solid piece with interesting and fun percussion work. Good stuff ya got here.

I'm not sure I can hear frogs. But I love that you can. It would be cool if everyone heard something different. That pad is pretty intense...It has a bunch of timbres that resonate at a really high Hz, it filled in that range for me.

I'm gonna go glide through some clouds right now, if you know what I mean, haha!

AHHHH!!!

This track is so close to perfect that it's almost... AHHH!!! Anyways, you had fantastic samples, beat was great, the vox and guitar were awesome but the bass and tuba/trumbone were dissonant and over powered! You put too much reeverb on the bass, it really took a lot from the song's overall quality. The tuba/trumbone wasn't that great either, since it was too dissonant :( You need to remake this, this can be a really great song if you worked out the kinks.

I love that jazz.

Bloody Eargasmic!

Jimbalaya batman! This was fantastic, and to think you did it in such a short time too, I am very impressed. This had me eargasm in every which way, fowards, backwards and a little to the left.

I think you should make a song out of the phases which doesn't follow the digits of pi, it still sounded good while doing so, but I'd like it to have a more concrete structure and flow, rather than being random (or almost random).

Although it was slightly repetitive, the composition was so good that it remained entertaining nonetheless! Twas magnific, Khuskan! Magnific!

It sounds random, in every musical sense it IS random, but in reality, it isn't. Pi is a set number, there is no randomness about it, as Pi is always the same.

The repetitiveness of some parts and randomess sounding mixes of other is actually nothing to do with me. I just composed the phrases, maths put it together for me ;-)

I like.

I liked the intro except that the opening pad you used was a little too "rough" sounding and I thought something smoother would have been better suited. (By rough and smooth I mean... uhh, for example: sawtooth = rough and sine = smooth, you get it.)

I also liked how much you varied your beat! I noticed you phased back in and out of twostep, goldie and some of your own custom stuff, it was really fun to listen to. I personally would have liked if you made the bass kick louder, but it sounds fine the way it is now.

When you went into the funky section of the song, with the freaky (square/sawtooth?) synth and trumpets, it reminded me of my junglist idol, Dj Fresh! I love his silly style of jungle and for you to even come close makes this song 5-worthy.

The bell solo, which lasted for about the last minute of the song, seemed a bit rhythmically random to me. I suppose I just didn't like how you syncopated it, although the bells, themselves, did sound nice.

As a matter of file size and bitrate, I thought you set the bitrate too high, I'm sure the song would have sounded just as good at 160kbps as 219kbps.

Anyways, to wrap this up, you did a great job Khuskan. I also wouldn't mind hearing more DNB/Jungle from you in the future, the DNB section of the AP needs more creative artists that are will to make music outside the box and go for something different than the typical hardcore, dark and griddy style DNB.

As for the filesize issue, I saved it as a variable bitrate file. For NG, I always try to get my tracks as close to the filesize limit as possible to garuntee maximum quality.

The bell solo was completely live recorded, with no quantisation. I did try to quantise it, but it took away the natural playing feel that I wanted for it.

Maybe I'll come up with a few more things like this ;-)

You didn't EQ your synths very well. We all know poly-melodies are cool and all but when you play many of your synths at once they sound muddy since they are all playing the same frequency ranges. Use the EQ to lower and raise the velocity of certain frequencies in your synths so that they don't overlap each other so much, this will give your track a lot more clarity.

I thought you "over-peaked" your eletric guitar synth at 0:35 and 0:44 in the song. (If you listen to those parts specifically then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.)

I think this just a personal preference, but I thought you made the drums too "distant." Probably by adding too much wettness on the reverb.

Besides all of that I think you did a really good job. The breath vox were great and so were the synths, at least individually. I liked the beat as well. The song was overall fun to listen to but for 4 minutes straight I didn't feel that you varied it up enough, eventually the song starts to become relentless and predictable.

Oh yea, and by the way, how the hell do you make a song every couple of days? You must be very dedicated to your DNB... that's admirable. And if you're going to title the front of your songs with "DJ Comet" now then I guess you should change your NG alias to that too, eh?

Thanks for the review, I'll check out that stuff you pointed out, it's pretty rare I get a nice in depth review like this :)
As for how many songs I crank out, I like to have at least 5 or 6 different projects in the works at a time. Individually, they can take me anything from 3 days to 2 weeks to make, but some songs I've made in 1 day on a binge for a few hours :P Once I'm started on a song there's no stopping me XD
I'm keeping my alias as TheComet until hell freezes over (or a lawsuit), I've always used it and it's what I like being identified by, that and not everyone knows I use DJ Comet

Man, so many Maestros on NG these days, I'm starting to lose track of them all ;P

The voice in the song was beautiful, subtle yet very powerful and moving at the same time. This song's feel is so enigmatic and peaceful and yet it has bits of triumphant and perseverance spread out within it, which I think was a really nice touch.

Did you mean to make this song in the style of romanticism? Because if you did then I think you did an excellent job! Most of the people on NG are power-heads and don't know how to appreciate the beautiful and emotionally driven art of romanticism. Especially that knuckle-head BbClarinet26, although he gave you a crappy review you handled it so exceptionally that I don't know what to be more impressed with, the song or your response to his review.

Why do you think your songs are much worse than they were before? I could not disagree with you anymore! To think such a thing is preposterous, your songs are neither worse nor better, just different. Your earlier songs under the MaestroSorrow account were more adrenaline-pumping but this piece is more soothing, to say that one was better than another just because of the mood is like a gangster rap artist saying all country music sucks: it's just an opinion. If anything, I think what you are doing is great! Explore new styles! Refine your skills! I personally adore romanticist orchestrated pieces and I gotta say that you are close, if not already on, the professional level with this one. You have definitely improved and ARG MATEY! This song makes me green with envy since I always wanted to compose a beautiful romanticist piece of my own.

Despite what others may say, I believe you are doing well for yourself. Keep on keepin' on, friend.

Hmm, perhaps I did not word that part as well I should have Kirizzle.

I did not entirely mean I felt my songs were getting worse in the sense of advancement, let me try to explain.

I started making tunes, about a year ago, because I could never find the songs that I truly wanted to hear, I believe many composers do this for that reason. They want to hear the tracks in their head, or tracks that move them the most.

I wanted to make different, original, unique, melodies. When I first started off, I felt like I was doing just that. My songs, though full of dissonance, clashing notes, and simplicity, were in my opinion, more original then the pieces you hear now. In short, they were not main stream. I keep hearing more and more main stream elements in my pieces as I go by, and this makes me feel like I have in some way failed myself.

I can no longer make the tracks like back then because now I fear breaking rules, and abide by guidelines, and so in a sense that aspect of me has completely died.

When I finally accepted this, it really hurt. I know, it sounds stupid. "Look up and move on!" some would say. But for me, that is not easy. For that part of me was what I really wanted in music, and with it dead, I feel like I am no longer making things that are truly me.

However this will not stop me in the least. I am even more determined now to bring this part of me back, ten fold! If I cannot bring that part back to life, then I will make a monster in a sense, by putting parts together! Like miscolored lego!

Anyways, thank you Kirizzle, you've truly made my day. Why are you green with envy? You still hax my box0rs with your tunes >:(!

As for Romantacism, yes, I tried to give it that flavour, I thought it was time to expand in other fields a tad bit.

Haha, just to clarify..

But I think what SaTIst meant was this track sounded very retro and cheesy-like, but it's interesting because since it gives the song a lot of spunk which makes it fun to listen to =)

Knowing how to use the EQ is helpful at times and I'm sure it would have only improved this song if you played around with it for a bit. It's not nearly as complicated or difficult as it may look, just search it up on the web and I'm sure you could become an EQ master with a simple tutorial somewhere.

But whether you use EQ or not though, I guess it's not always necessary because ICE TEMPLE SOUNDS FANTASTIC AS IT IS! You did an awesome job on that song, it sounds really good, the melodies and harmonies are wonderful and everything flows together like a nice autumn breeze. You picked the perfect combination of instruments too, and in my opinion: all the volume levels were right on target. I commend you, good sir, for a job well done.

Hehe this is the first time that i get a 2 in 1 pacakge deal lol...

:D it's been twice now that some poeple tell me about one of my track being "cheesy". Damn i really wish that there would be an international standard as to what "cheesy" means when talking about songs lol...

I do play with the volume levels in fruity loops until it sounds good to my ears. By that i mean that i export the song as an mp3 several times until i find it fitting to me and that all sounds are audible. That goes for all of my songs.

You never cease to amaze me =)

This was wonndderrffuull! You had some really neat and unique synths in there, especially that slightly dissonant synth you had come in every once in a while, it made the song even more awe-inspiring. I noticed that the percussion sounded "damaged" (in a good way, it added to the piece) at times during the song, which reminded me of the "Scream 4 Destruction" module in Reason 3. Just wondering, but did you use Reason in the production of this? Or did you just solely use Cubase with some plug-ins and stuff of that sort? Anyways, which either way it doesn't make this song any less absolutely awesome. I really wonder how you do it sometimes... that and why aren't your songs higher rated and more popular? Your current downloads and ratings don't nearly do these songs justice, it's some serious blasphemy. I wish I could somehow help you out and advertise or something, ya know, spread the love. It's obvious you put a lot of effort into your music and I know plenty of people would be moved by the caliber of this song's professionalism along with it's spacy and quirky atmosphere (which I just loved by the way). It honestly evoked some emotions and feelings in me, so I can say that I was touched by this piece. Anyways, nice job and keep making more music for me to jam out to, cause this song rocked!

Long time my man! I'm glad you liked this one. I will be recording vocals this weekend hopefully. All the synths are straight from the Korg Triton. No Reason 3.0 on this badboy. As for the ratings, I'm perfectly content with where they're at, and I might have some more downloads if I put in more time in on the forums and reviewing other peoples stuff. Unfortunately, I got a full time job now and I never make it around anymore. Thank you though for any promoting/word-spreading you do though. Take care broham!
